Urgent prayers requested for Sri Lanka
Pastor Jeyakanth and a couple of friends form UK are in Sri Lanka, after spending a week in South India. As usual, time is spent in visiting, preaching and teaching, and conducting training for the leaders. Twenty-eight people were baptized today in the sea at Valluchennai. Those who have been following developments in the country would know that the situation is very tense, with intense fighting taking place in the north. A few days ago, one of the young men in the 6th Mile Post was accosted by gunmen who came in a white van, and taken away. Attempts are being made to have him released. Urgent prayers are requested for his safety and release. Pray also for Pastor Jeyakanth and his companions, that they will be kept safe and have a fruitful time there. They will be returning to UK on 7 November.

The last amount from the Disaster Relief Fund has been channelled to the needs at the Irrawaddy Delta. We are prepared to receive more contributions for the needs there until the end of November. Please see the previous posting for banking details.
Reports are coming in about the rat infestation in the Chin Hills. It appears that many villages have been affected, with rice, maize and other crops being eaten clean by the rats. We do not wish to underestimate the needs there, but it seems at this time that they are not as dire as those faced by the victims of cyclone Nargis. We will await fuller information before deciding what should be done, if at all.
